Symphonic Band
617/618 - SYMPHONIC BAND Year 1 Credit Grades 10 - 12
Prerequisite: Concert Band and audition on primary instrument
The Symphonic Band is a performance-oriented ensemble composed of upperclassmen. This intermediate-advanced ensemble places a heightened emphasis on the development of a well-rounded musician as preparation for college or as community band members. Symphonic Band members participate in the Marching Band in the fall and study concert band literature in the winter. Students grades are composed of mandatory performances (during and after school) including Michigan Schools Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) festivals, APHS events, and community events, as well as in-class music journal work, focusing on advanced level music theory, ear training, solfege, and history.
