Choral Festival
MSVMA Choral Festival is a long-standing tradition in Michigan school with a choral program. Schools will prepare two songs of contrasting style to perform for a panel of esteemed choral music scholars in the state of michigan, some of which are professors of choral music at Michigan universities. Judges will give the performance ratings, Division 1 being the best to Division 5. Afterward, students will work with one of the judges in a "clinic," where the judge gives the choir tips and strategies for improvement. Lastly, students will demonstrate music reading abilities in the "sight-reading" room. Here, students will have to perform musical excerpts at sight. After our performances, we will support other area choirs and watch their performances.
Choir festival happens during the school day. Students will generally miss lunch at school. Therefore, we will stop for lunch after the event. Students should bring money for lunch or pack a lunch. Students will be responsible for any work they miss.
