Concert Band
611/612 – CONCERT BAND Year 1 Credit Grade 9 - 12
Prerequisite: Two years (four semesters) of middle band or audition on primary instrument
The Concert Band is composed of freshmen and upperclassmen with prior instrument playing experience. This class focuses on the continued development of instrument technique, musicianship, and music literacy. The Concert Band is a performing ensemble as part of the Allen Park High School Marching Band and includes various other performance requirements. Students grades are composed of mandatory performances (during and after school) including Michigan Schools Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) festivals, APHS events, and community events, as well as in-class music journal work, focusing on basic music theory, ear training, solfege, and history.
